The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Language Testing and Certification (LTC, previously known as LIST) has gone through rule changes. You can access an Overview of Program Changes<https://www.dshs.wa.gov/fsa/language-testing-and-certification-program/ltc-program-changes> on their website (https://www.dshs.wa.gov/fsa/language-testing-and-certification-program/ltc-program-changes).
What we need from YOU, as a DSHS-certified or authorized interpreter: By 12/31/2016 at 11:59pm, you must have attended or submitted proof of completion for a DSHS-approved ETHICS training. You must take a DSHS-approved ethics training to keep your certification/authorization status valid. Otherwise, your certification/authorization status will expire on 04/06/2019, regardless of other CE credits accumulated, and you must retake and pass the testing and other requirements if you wish to continue holding a certificate/authorization. There is an ethics training available on the LTC website free of charge, under the Continuing Education<https://www.dshs.wa.gov/fsa/language-testing-and-certification-program/continuing-education-ce> tab, that you can participate in at your convenience.
Once your first ethics credit is earned by December 31st, 2016, you can continue to meet the yearly ethics training requirement (4 total: 1 per calendar year), the general education credits requirements (16, minimum), and the signed ethics oath and background check requirements to renew your status before it expires on April 6th 2019.
The certificate renewal requirements will repeat every four years after April 6th, 2019 (see WAC 388-03-160<http://app.leg.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=388-03-160> and WAC 388-03-162<http://app.leg.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=388-03-162>).
